ABOUT
About half a year after my brother Chris passed away, I created this blog with the intention of posting my favorite memories of cooking with Chris and maybe a new recipe or two that he would’ve liked. As you can see from the first and last post that year, I didn’t follow through with it. I’m not sure why, but I do know I had a tough time writing about Chris while his loss was so new to me. As a 24-year-old, the closest I’d come to losing a loved one was losing our first family dog, Tolstoy. To go from that to losing my younger brother was confusing to say the least.
Only time can heal, and now that it has begun to do so I see this blog as a place where Chris can live on, through our stories about him, pictures, and maybe a recipe or two. In this way his family and friends can remember him, and those who didn’t know Chris can get to know him. If you have memories you would like to see posted on Cooking for Chris, please email me at philip.lisa@gmail.com. In the words of Chris, “Would you like a cookie or a small parade?” -Lisa
